SANTA 4 SENIORS ARTWORK PROJECT

iGenOttawa is supporting the Santa 4 Seniors initiative led by The Good Companions that will provide gift baskets to seniors who live alone and will be spending the holiday season on their own. There are around 300 seniors at this point on the list to receive such a basket, and we are working with some sponsors who will be providing items for the basket (food, clothing, etc.).
We would love to include in the gift baskets some holiday cards, small crafts, jokes or letters from students and people of any age. If you are a teacher with students who like to create art, we’d be grateful to receive it!
We’d be happy to come and collect the cards etc. during the first week of December. The gift baskets will be delivered the third week of December by volunteers.
Please email info@igenottawa.ca if you would like to participate in this Santa 4 Seniors artwork project.
If you would like to make a donation that will go directly to purchasing a gift basket, with an approximate value of $30, for an isolated senior in our community, visit the Canada Helps page to make a secure contribution.
“Intergenerational programs offer opportunities to connect seniors and children. They have so much to share with one another. Seniors share their wisdom and life experience with children. These programs reduce isolation for seniors and children meet and get to know older adults. Although we cannot offer in person programs at this time, the children have found a way to connect with seniors that The Good Companions supports by sharing artwork, recipes and jokes with us. In turn we are sharing their gifts with seniors. Their acts of kindness bring a smile and joy to seniors. Thank you iGenOttawa for connecting seniors and children during this challenging time!”

Please help us create a steady stream of notes and artworks for these two wonderful organizations to share with the most vulnerable among us. Small acts can make a difference. Please share with your networks.
